Tanya Baxter Contemporary
Tanya Baxter Contemporary, founded in 1995 and based in London and Hong Kong, has built a reputation for showcasing some of the finest international contemporary art. Tanya Baxter’s career as an art dealer began in Hong Kong where she ran a gallery in the 1990s before relocating to London. After the move, she continued to consult for a number of banks and corporate collections in Asia. The London gallery was established in 1998 and in 2012 a new gallery space was opened in Hong Kong, where it continues to act as a bridge between Western and Chinese art.
With over 25 years’ experience in the Post-War Modern, Modern British and Contemporary art schools, Tanya Baxter Contemporary is well qualified to advise high net worth individuals, corporate collections, foundations, private banks and offices on acquiring museum-quality works by globally renowned artists. The gallery’s Art Advisory service is known for sourcing works by artists such as Andy Warhol, Henry Moore, Terry Frost, Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Frank Auerbach, Ai Weiwei, Bridget Riley, Damien Hirst, Zeng Chuanxing, Marc Quinn and Tracey Emin.
It assists clients on the entire process from negotiating the acquisition of works to the final logistics of hanging them, as well as advising on the long-term strategy of building an art portfolio. A unique bespoke service to each individual client is provided with the utmost integrity and discretion.
Tanya Baxter Contemporary exhibits at major international art fairs in London, Paris, New York, Miami, Monaco, Singapore and Hong Kong, including Masterpiece London, LAPADA Fine Art & Antiques Fair, Art Stage Singapore and Fine Art Asia in Hong Kong. The gallery has also curated exhibitions for clients at The Royal Academy and the Saatchi Gallery, London. Tanya Baxter Contemporary has been the exclusive curator at the Heathrow Terminal 5 VIP Lounge since 2015.
As well as providing sound, mature advice on art investment opportunities, Tanya Baxter Contemporary represents a number of established international mid-career artists including Richard Allen, Pip Todd-Warmoth, Jean-Philippe Duboscq, Benjamin Warner, Katarina Monnier, Hong Viet Dung, Revati Sharma Singh, Zeng Chuanxing, Zhao Kailin, Ling Jian, Liu Fenghua, Min Wae Aung and Paul Hughes. The gallery also maintains an active programme for young emerging artists such as Mr Brainwash & Rhed.
Tanya Baxter gained a BA and MA from Trinity College, Dublin, with post-graduate studies in the History of Art at the Sorbonne in Paris. She is a guest lecturer at Sotheby’s Institute in “The Business of Art” and “Art as an Investment”. In 2020 she was invited to join the panel at the annual LAPADA Conference in the House of Lords. Tanya Baxter is Director of the Friends of the National Gallery of Ireland, fundraising, sourcing loans of art and conducting acquisitions research for the gallery.
